KIM FORD was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in 1983. After gaining experience in a general law practice, she joined Clayton Utz in 1984 with a view to specialising in Family Law. She assisted in developing the Family Law practice of that firm and was appointed as a Senior Associate in 1988.
Kim continued her Family Law practice with McDonell Milne Fowler in 1989, before joining Barker Gosling as a partner in 1991 where she headed and established that firm’s Family Law department. In 1997, Kim became a Principal of the specialist Family Law firm , McDonell Milne Toltz, where she practiced for the following 20 years.
In December 2017, Kim commenced the practice of Ford Family Lawyers.
Over her 30 plus years of practice, Kim has gained comprehensive experience in all aspects of Family Law, including de facto and same sex relationships. In addition to the traditional areas of divorce, parenting, maintenance, child support and property matters, Kim advises on the preparation of Financial Agreements, complex corporate structures and estate planning and has experience in international property and parenting matters.
Kim has held the position of Adjunct Lecturer in the Masters of Applied Family Law course at the College of Law and has also lectured widely to professional and community groups on various aspects of Family Law.
Kim is on the panel of Family Law Arbitrators prescribed under the Family Law Regulations and is a nationally accredited Family Law Mediator. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Mediators.
